The Part
Fit within the Tolerance Is
Visually Displayed
Customers
asked us to show transparent tolerance envelopes around the tube shape
in order to prove visually that the measured part fits the
master part.
Customers
can import and examine the STEP image of the part with the
envelope to confirm that the part actually fits inside the envelope
specified.

 |
Blue Envelopes Indicate Straights that Are
within the Tolerance
When all straight surfaces are
within the tolerance envelopes, then the envelopes are set (by default)
to a transparent blue as shown here.
|
|
|
Yellow Envelopes Indicate Straights that Are
outside the Tolerance
If a straight
section exceeds the tolerance
allowed in a straight section, then the envelope switches to
transparent yellow.

|
Breakthrough
Positions Are Clearly
Visualized
Because
of
the contrasting colors, it is easier to determine visually
where
the tube breaks through the tolerance
envelope.
The
tube on the right shows a yellow envelope at the end from the
midpoint to the endpoint. The actual point of breakthrough is
where
the pink (aligned) tube emerges from the yellow envelope.

End
Tolerance Envelopes Are Also Displayed
VTube-LASER
shows the result of the end LENGTH and end ANGLE tolerances in the
envelope as well.
This
part shows shows all straights in tolerance - but the ends are out of
tolerance as we can see on the end tolerance envelopes.

Envelope
Setup Is Simple
Control
the color of the in-tolerance and out-of-tolerance envelopes in the
Envelope tab menu in Inspection Data.
You can also control the level of transparency on all envelope models. |

|
Tolerance
Envelope Size Are Independently Controlled at Each Tangent and
Midpoint along Each Straight
This
is an example demonstrating how a part of the straight from the
midpoint to the tangent at the bend passes inspection with a widened
envelope tolerance.
The section at the end of the tube shows a reduced tolerance at the
point at the end, and is clearly out of tolerance. |

Export
the Model with the Tolerance Envelope
to Other CAD Packages
It
is
possible to export the entire model - including the tolerance envelope
- to other CAD packages using the STEP file format. This is a
VTube-LASER model in SolidWorks 2011. |
