In addition to quick setup and inspection, the visual and textual data displayed in a true bend provides the means for cross-checking. Cross-checking helps the inspector to know that the tube shape is correct through additional verification. The following two cross-checks alone help prevent huge losses in re-tooling and re-bending.
Cross Check 1: Each true bend automatically flips over in the X axis when the preceding leg to the bend is moving below the layout surface. (See Bend 5 in the image above.) If the preceding leg of a fabricated tube moves below the plane of its true bend, then the inspector can know that tube shape needs correction.
Cross Check 2: Another cross-check feature is the Preceding Leg Vector. See the lines with the arrow in the image above. The PLV shows the direction of the vector of the preceding leg relative to the true bend. This prevents the possiblity of large rotation errors of the tube shape during fabrication. The preceding leg of the fabricated tube must follow the general direction of the PLV to be correct.
