This document discusses an important revision to TubeCAD to those who use the DXFCE, ELFILE, or SGFILE commands in the TubeCAD File menu.

          1. ELFILE was updated to load Millimeter data as well as INCH. Our previous assumption -- that EL FIF files only use INCH data proved to be incorrect. To the best of our knowledge, all U.S. Laservision measuring centers create FIF files in the INCH mode only. TubeCAD users in Asia, however, discovered that their machine also creates FIF files using millimeter units. The ELFILE feature now recognizes either unit during input.

          2. While in the process of changing ELFILE, we also discovered that it and the other two modules corrupted the 5.8Q database. This has been repaired.

How to install the new modules

Note: We strongly recommend that you download the TubeCAD modules to correct these problems, but DO NOT attempt to use these files with older versions of TubeCAD. They will work only with TubeCAD 5.8 REVISION Q.

          1. Click here to download tc58q-r1.exe (681 KB).

          2. Run the tc58q-r1.exe program to extract four TubeCAD program files. They are:

          • DXFCE.EXE
          • DXFCE1.BIN
          • SGFILE.EXE
          • ELFILE.EXE

          3. Copy the four files to your TubeCAD directory. Usually, this is "c:\tc58".

Confirming that you have the new modules

          1. Check to see if the extracted files have a date of January 8, 1998.

          2. Also, load each command and observe the title on each of the screens. An "- r1" is placed at the end of each title to allow you to confirm that you have the correct files installed. This indicates that you are using "revision 1" of these modules.
