Is TubeCAD Compatible With IBM CATIA-CADAM?

TubeCAD creates DXF files that can be imported into other CAD packages like AutoCAD and CADKEY. Some of our customers are moving to high-end CAD systems like the IBM CATIA-CADAM system, and they sometimes get the impression from others that they must have IGES capabilities in order to transfer data from TubeCAD to CATIA-CADAM.

According to our sources at IBM, the latest version of CATIA-CADAM (v.4) has a DXF translation command. In older versions, the function was provided through an external program that provided mixed results in importing DXF files. Version 4 includes the feature from within the program, and is much improved in its ability to interpret DXF files.
