FIF Translator - FIF File Info Page

FIF files can contain hundreds or thousands of parts.

Use this tab page to examine and view all the part names in an FIF file.

This is especially useful to determine what is in an FIF file before you perform a translation to other file formats.

Read the following material to learn how to use this tab page. You can click on any screen image to see an enlarged view of that image.

    Buttons

The two buttons on this tab page are:

      1. Open File Button

This button loads the Open File dialog that lets you view a file in the data view box.

Any file selected will searched for internal parts, and the results are displayed in the data view box immediately.

      2. Print Button

This button allows you to print the data in the data view box.

    Indicators

      1. The "Load Status" Indicator

This indicator shows the status of the FIF file search. We've added this feature because some FIF files are very long and can take several seconds of even minutes to search.

      2. The "File Name" Indicator

The File Name indicator shows which file is loaded.

      3. The "File Path" Indicator

This shows the file path of the data loaded.

      4. The "Number of Blocks" Indicator

This shows the number of FIF blocks present in this file. The FIF specification uses the term "BLOCK" for each part contained within the file. If FIF Translator shows 10 BLOCKS, then there are 10 parts within the file.

It is possible to have empty FIF BLOCKS within FIF files, so there may be, in reality, a smaller number of real parts than there are blocks. (This occurs if an operator saved an empty part to a filename in the Vector or Eaton Leonard bender database.

    The Data View Box

The data view box displays the part names found within the FIF file selected.

The box allows you to select and copy the contents of the data to the Windows clipboard.
