This document details information about the latest information about the Benderlink IV System package.

Package Features

Benderlink IV is software/hardware system that is designed to allow offline programming and communication with KEINS and Chiyoda benders.

Package Feature List

The Benderlink IV Package is a complete system designed with these features:

Software designed for Windows 95/98

Communication with multiple benders from a single software package

Sophisticated huge quantity storage capability of Chiyoda or KEINS parts (250,000 parts per Gigabyte of disk space)

Part names use long filenames.

Part search capability designed for finding a part in a list of thousands of parts.

Compressed File BACKUP and RESTORE (to local drive or network, partial backup, or backup the entire Benderlink file system)

Network Ready

Import Supravision Files

Automatically builds corresponding Supravision files every time a Benderlink file is created. Used for loading Benderlink data to other software packages.

FIF Translator for batch import/export of Eaton Leonard data

TubeCalc software for entry of XYZ data, conversion to bender data, dynamic spin-around viewing of the tube shape

Automatic conversion of bender data to TubeCalc to spin around the tube shape in real-time on the screen

Separate Benderlink Offline programmer for entry of XYZ data, BENDER data, import of Supravision, or even import of Pro/E data at a remote workstation.

Enter new bender data, or edit existing data within Benderlink.

View and print bender data in either MILLIMETERS or INCHES, no matter what the unit setting in the bender.

Clear Chiyoda or KEINS channels from Benderlink.

Handles intelligent communication between measuring centers and the benders

Automatically recognize and properly handle sharp bend angles when transferring data to or from other programs and measuring centers. (Split Bend feature)

On-site Installation and Training

Certain packages include on-site service.

Typical On-site installation includes at least the following items:

Benderlink Computer System

Installation of Benderlink IV Computer / Software
Setup and test of system
In some cases, on-site adjustment of the software is possible.

Communications Hardware

Testing of communications ports
Installation of cables inside the Chiyoda or KEINS benders

STANDARD CABLE CONNECTION

Installation of Benderlink electronic communications device inside the bender. (This device contains a power supply and converter that allows robust industrial communications over cable up to 4000 feet).

Installation of Benderlink WIRELESS TRANSCEIVERS. (These devices allow over 3000 feet line-of-site communication using YAGI antennas. (This option is an extra-cost item.)

Additional Days of Installation/Training

Additional days of training, custom programming, or installation can be purchased while we are on-site.

Each extra on-site day is charged at the rate of US$1200 per day. Other additional travel charges may apply.

Extended Installation Times and Costs

The success of Benderlink IV installations depends on a few variables outside the control of Advanced Tubular Technologies.

For example, your Chiyoda or KEINS benders must have the appropriate ROM version to enable communication. We are capable of installing these chips, and problems during installation are rare. But if problems arise during installation of these chips that cause our delay, then we cannot be liable for extra charges incurred because of associated problems.

Also, if you plan to connect to other manufacturers’ machines (like measuring centers), then it is important that they have the appropriate software and hardware installation and functioning on those machines in order to allow the smooth installation of Benderlink. (For example, this measuring center needs an available COM port for communication with the Chiyoda benders.)

Any delays out of our control that extend our installation trip are billed to our customers accordingly.

Vector Competitive Bender Interface Option

Our software communicates with the Vector measuring center using a serial protocol that Benderlink can understand. Each customer must purchase what Eaton Leonard calls the Competitive Bender Interface in order to have access this protocol for at least one port. This option is required by Eagle-Eaton Leonard for communication between non-Eaton Leonard benders and the Vector and/or 4XL measuring centers.

Warranty

Any hardware is warranted against failure for one year. The warranty does not include travel costs for on-site repair.

Scheduling

We request up to four weeks to gather components necessary for each project. We may request more time for larger projects.

Custom Programming

We can also perform custom programming that adds features requested by the customer. For example, many customers have a unique file format for tube data that is present on the main server. We often write translation software that will enable translation of that format to the Benderlink-compatible format file. Please consider discussing your translation needs in advance and include so that we can be prepared to add these features at your request.
